If you're gasoline, I'm a lit match.

  • Find a good therapist online

Taking charge of your future starts here.

I help burnt out overachievers relax into success. Reduce stress and anxiety using creative body-based rituals. You're done with people-pleasing. It's time to take your power back.

More Than Mental Therapy

  • ONE-ON-ONE ADULT THERAPY

I collaborate with individuals who are committed to making room for pleasure and connection in their lives now. Together we chart a map of personal and relational growth unique to you, using techniques from the creative arts and theatre therapy. It's you and me over 8 weeks of coaching, supported by self-led explorations between sessions.

  • ALTERNATIVE THERAPY GROUP

Drop-in groups now open. Bring your anger, your grief, your wounds. Cultivate powerful and nourishing relationships with each other and with the land we're sitting on. The group is a space to tap into the wisdom inside the body, to re-member how to play together, and turn bullshit from the past into fertilizer for the future. Cultivate gratitude for being part of this imperfect ecosystem. Get on the waitlist for the next cohort.

  • SINGLE SESSION ONLINE THERAPY

You're motivated and driven, and you need a signpost to get you on your way. Or it's your first time seeking drama therapy. Or you need to add a few tools to increase your self esteem. After one session you come away with a new understanding of how to relieve stress and anxiety, plus exercises to integrate into your daily life, so you can thrive.

let’s play.

In a creative arts therapy space, you harness the power of nonverbal expression to understand how to relieve stress and anxiety, and start untangling from traumatic memories and emotions.

My name is Susie Showers (she/they) and I'm a queer femme artist, performer and pleasure activist. My clinical practice is trauma-informed, sex work-allied, queer&trans-centred, and firmly antiracist.

By listening to what the body has to express, and by rooting into our place in the ecosystem, transformation is possible.

To access mental health services, there is usually a range of talk therapy options to choose from. But when you are seeking PTSD treatments, or learning how to relieve stress and anxiety, talk therapy alone is often not enough to sustain long-term relief, and it can even be harmful to use words to describe painful memories and emotions.

There’s a solution. The cognitive part at the front of the brain acts as a defensive guard against overwhelmingly painful experience. Creative arts therapy techniques gently navigate around these defences by instead engaging the limbic system, the emotional centre of the brain, which lights up with imaginative nonverbal expression of metaphor, somatic physical movement, storytelling, and role play.

I completed the MA of Drama Therapy Program at Concordia in Montreal, Quebec in 2020. I support clients with sexual issues in counselling, having undergone an intensive sex therapy training through Guelph University in 2023. I have training in suicide prevention and crisis intervention, support for survivors of sexual abuse, and kink & polyamourous relationship support. Using the arts therapies, I've supported adults going through big transitions at all life stages, including university students, Holocaust survivors in long-term care, people in the disabled community, and underhoused people. I’ve offered therapy for anger, therapy for self esteem, mindfulness group therapy, conflict management and other types of group therapy in these clinical and community spaces. Alongside my work as a mental health therapist I am a community arts facilitator supporting groups to create unconventional theatre, animated film, and clowning as political action.

I am a registered as a Canadian Certified Counsellor offering counselling services in-person in Montreal, Quebec and online across Canada.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) offering telehealth psychotherapy sessions online to residents of Ontario.

Please ensure that you check with your insurance provider in your province if you are able to have certified counselling (in Quebec) or registered psychotherapy (in Ontario) covered for reimbursement.

In Québec, creative arts therapists are not recognized to practice "psychotherapy" by the Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ). Nonetheless, Canada's Creative Arts Therapies degree programs provide sufficient tools and experience in the mental health field through rigorous academic training and supervised practicum internships in clinical settings. Thus, drama therapists and other creative arts therapists in Québec offer a therapeutic avenue for wellness.

In counselling we look at areas of your life that contribute to stress and create a plan unique to your situation that includes coping skills, resources, techniques and approaches for improving relationships. Issues such as anger, anxiety, and conflict management are addressed. These are identified and supported with a plan of future-focussed action.

Psychotherapy offers tools for insight into underlying emotional, relational, and sometimes physical issues that impact quality of life, with the intention to improve social and romantic interactions, as well as the relationship to oneself.
